We have seen a uprising of this Haircut/Hairstyle again after the hugely successful shows and movies that have a focus on men being clean-cut, particularly the leaders being Boardwalk Empire and Madmen. The classic smooth look has taken over, and fashion minded men have implemented the look into their overall style.

Back from the 1920′s men are questioning how they can pull of this look! and we will now cover what you need to know.
This is named the Slickedback Undercut created in the 1920′s and alternatively known as the Waffen SS Haircut (let’s try to forget this style was popular in Nazi Germany as it seems everyone else has).
Will I suit this hairstyle?
You must be objective in deciding whether this will suit you no matter how much you believe how good it looks on other people (other people is the main word). Longer and more angular faces fit this look the best and will benefit the most as it does brings out peoples features. Let me bring you back to that point of “angular”, included in the definition is being free from that chubby face. It is unlikely chubby cheeks or a round face will pull this look off so if it purely comes down the body-fat drop that chocolate bar and visit the fitness section on this site.
How to cut it?
Being longer on the top and shorter on the sides is the two important aspects of this cut, which you have the option to vary depending on your own preference or hair length. When your hairdresser asks you whether you want the sides clipped or cut, go with the clippers as this will differentiate the length at the top from the sides. A #2 is considered the standard but if you want a #3 its totally up to you!. This undercut is one style compared to other recent trends that doesn’t require any blending between the sides and the top. Now the length at the top is completely up to you so discuss this with your hairdresser and don’t be afraid to ask them their opinion as they know what they are doing! (Guys treat yourself and go to a proper stylist/higher class hairdresser who knows what they are doing and most likely have already mastered the style. So ditch that $5 cut!)
How to style it?
For this style Gel is your best bet. It will keep your hair stationary and looking awesome. The stronger the Gel the more stiff/hard it will appear. This is up to you to test what works best for you.
